The Mughal emperor Jahangir along with his art love, was also famous for his love affairs indulgence. Various styles of art developed during Jahangir's reign, and painting was also at its peak. Anarkali who was a court dancer in the Mughal court, whose beauty was famous. Jahangir was Prince Salim at the time and loved Anar Kali (Anarkali) immensely, which Emperor Akbar did not like at all.
The real name was Sharf Un Nissa also she was known as Nadira and hailed from Iran. Her mother was also a royal dancer in the Mughal court. Prince Salim, madly in love with Nadira, gave her the title of Anarkali. Due to this love affair, the differences between father and son increased so much that it lead to a war.
Related to Jahangir and Anarkali various historians have various opinions. As a very popular tomb is said to be of Anarkali in Lahore. According to popular legend she was given death punishment by burying her alive in wall, and one legend suggests that she was allowed to escape through the tunnel located at the North of the Dargah of Hazrat Salim Chishti ( ra) in Fatehpur Sikri. This is one of the secret as it doesn't have any historical proof. Who is buried in the Tomb situated in Lahore? a mystery! Even few have the opinion that Nur Jahan was the same Anarkali as after marrying her Jehangir didn't marry to any other women.
This unproven romantic story was presented to the audience by many filmmakers and serial producers. Tourist guides show this tunnel and door with great enthusiasm to tourists during the visit of Fatehpur. For this reason, it is a tourist attraction worth seeing.
